چکیده
Describing, analyzing, and explaining patterns in eye movement behavior is crucial for understanding visual perception. Further, movements are increasingly used informing cognitive process models. In this article, we start by reviewing basic characteristics desiderata models of movements. Specifically, argue that there a need combining spatial temporal aspects eye-tracking data (i.e., fixation durations locations), formal derived from concrete theoretical assumptions needed to inform our empirical research, custom statistical useful detecting specific phenomena be explained said theory. develop conceptual model movements, or specifically, locations, it derive model-meeting goal crafting both the research cycle. We demonstrate use on an example infant natural scene viewing, show able explain different features data, showcase how identify needs adapted if does not agree with data. conclude discussion potential future avenues (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved).

This paper grew out of a lecture presented at the 54th Session of the International Statistical Institute in Berlin, August 13 20, 2003, Schneeweiss (2003). It intends not only to outline the eventful life of Abraham Wald (1902 1950) in Austria and in the United States but also to present his extensive scientific work. In particular, the two main subjects, where he earned most of his fame, are ...

(P being the pulsation period) could, therefore, assume any value. Moreover, if the disturbing force were periodic, a resonance of the free and forced periods would be immediately established and the amplitude of the oscillation greatly enhanced. Second-order effects, ignored in the present investigation, would thus probably soon become appreciable and could operate to destroy the resonance. Sh...
متن کاملThe Decentralized Wald Problem
Two detectors making independent observations must decide which one of two hypotheses is true. The decisions are coupled through a common cost function. It is shown that the detectors’ optimal decisions are characterized by thresholds which are coupled and whose computation requires the solution of two coupled sets of dynamic programming equations. An approximate computation of the thresholds i...
متن کاملTowards Machine Wald
The past century has seen a steady increase in the need of estimating and predicting complex systems and making (possibly critical) decisions with limited information. Although computers have made possible the numerical evaluation of sophisticated statistical models, these models are still designed by humans because there is currently no known recipe or algorithm for dividing the design of a st...
